How Using AI to Read for You in University Amounts to Self-Destruction

I met a university student who said most people are using AI to summarise every text they’re assigned to read. It worries me.

Because I bet the proudest you’ve ever been of yourself in life has been the times you’ve struggled through and had to really earn something.

Intuitively you know it’s good for every part of you. Body, mind, and soul.

In struggle we are revealed. To ourselves and the people around us.

Uncomfortable or downright difficult experiences forge us into stronger, wiser, more prepared versions of ourselves.

It also literally rewires the brain, activating new pathways that help you learn or adapt to future hard things.

Let’s not debate whether you should or shouldn’t use AI to read your assigned university texts. Instead debate this: does who you are today matter less to you than who you are becoming?

Stealing time back today is stealing something far more important, from the most important person in your world.

You’re stealing self-confidence, capability, grit, and self-determination. From yourself.
